Concerto for double bass and orchestra in F sharp minor op. 3 (double bass and piano reduction)
I. Allegro
Rainer Zepperitz, professor
Marta Franco, student
Jesús Gómez Madrigal, accompanying pianist
Professor Rainer Zepperitz gives some indications to this first movement of the Concerto in F sharp minor. The beginning should be a long note with a big bow. We must continuously listen to the sound we make, and the triplets are faster. This concert requires a lot of power, even while playing on the same string. The pauses between phrases should be short so as not to interrupt the inertia, it is just an impulse to continue with the same energy. Relaxation is important to play the difficult passages. In the climax the student must anticipate a crescendo molto just before, and then take the tempo. Relaxation in the right hand is necessary to attack the bow decisively. A general advice: every moment of interpretation is special, we should do it special.
