Encounter of Santander
French-born Stanislas Kim currently enjoys a diverse musical career as an international soloist and prizewinner (First Prize at the 2023 Klaipėda Cello Competition, and other major awards at the Enescu Competition in Bucharest, Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Hindemith Competition Berlin, Lyon International Chamber Music Competition), principal cellist of the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid and professor at the Escuela Superior de Musica of Extremadura.
He has been invited to numerous festivals (Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Musiktage Hitzacker, Bachtage Würzburg, Grieg Festival in Bergen, Cervo Festival...), performing with renowned chamber music partners and some of Europe’s leading orchestras.
Stanislas has received valuable advice and inspiration from David Geringas, Ferenc Rados, Philippe Muller, Leonid Gorokhov, Andrew Manze, Frans Helmerson and Jens Peter Maintz.
During his studies he received generous support from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, the German Music Foundation, the Gundlach Foundation and the Peter Fuld Foundation.
He plays an 18th century Italian cello, on loan from a generous private benefactor.
His debut album "Postscriptum" with pianist Marie Rosa Günter, released April 2024 on Genuin classics and featuring works by Shostakovich and other composers from St. Petersburg, was nominated for the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
From the 2024-2025 academic year, he is Deputy Professor ar the Reina Sofía School of Music's Aline Foriel-Destezet Cello Chair with professor Jens Peter Maintz.
