Pedro Pablo studied at the Hochscule für Musik in Basel with M. Weiss, C. Martínez, S. Azzolini and R. Schmidt. Also, and he received advice from F. Rados and E. Feltz. He has participated in festivals such as Cervantino International Festival, Granada Music Festival or Lucerne Festival, among others. He also collaborates with orchestras as Lucerne Festival, Frankfurt Radio Orchestra and Mahler Chamber. He has worked with world-leading conductors such as Simon Rattle and Pablo Heras-Casado.
His continuous development of the musical language has produced an extensive corpus of new works; they have been born from a close collaboration with composers such as Paul, Sánchez-Verdú, Escudero, Frank, Torá, Eötvös or Alonso.
He has won more than 25 international competitions and he recorded 10 CDs. His commitment to scenic and interdisciplinary formats is noteworthy, participating in the premiere of productions of the Berlin Staatsoper, Madrid Teatro Real or Musiktheatertage Wien. He is a member of the Opera Lab Berlin and is doing an artistic research focused on new forms of expression and new concert formats with the saxophone at the UVa and the IKG.
Pedro is professor at the Centro Superior Katarina Gurska in Madrid and he also teaches at the International Community Music School in Basel. As guest he was invited for masterclasses in Musikhochschule Munich, UdK Berlin, KUG Graz, UNAM CDMX, Hochschule for Musik Basel, HKBU Hong Kong, among others.
As musicians, Pedro is interested in keeping the essence of the music he plays: by making the saxophone his own voice, he speaks the language of each period to convey the history of each work. In this continuous search, he aims to equip the saxophone with a technique that adapts to each particular musical language.
