Madrid, 11 May 2020.-
For the last four years, the Reina Sofía School of Music has been offering its youngest programme during the month of July: Music and Culture Summer Camp, designed for 12 to 17-year-olds. However, due to the current situation regarding the covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition will not be held on-campus, but its music project has been adapted and two alternative programmes will be developed online.
The first, from 29 June to 10 July, Music and Fun Summer Camp, is intended to be a musical immersion with a combination of individual instrument classes and theoretical lessons as well as group and interactive activities related to music, live classes included. It is designed for students that have at least two years of experience practicing an instrument or with intermediate levels.
The second programme will take place in two different dates: From 29 June to 10 July and from 13 July to 24 July. The Young Artists Summer Camp is designed for students of intermediate or high professional degrees. Participants will enjoy a great musical experience, with individual classes, group projects, and ‘Building an Artist’ masterclasses that will help them enter the professional world of music and question how they can contribute to society, as musicians.
Each programme lasts two weeks, from Monday to Friday, with four hours of online live classes a day (instrument, theoretical, body technique, etc.). The schedule of the classes will be assigned by the School, depending on the instrument, in the slots of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Madrid time, UTC+1), with breaks in between classes. In the case of the Young Artists programme, from 13 to 24 July, participants will also have the possibility of signing up for the afternoon shift (from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Madrid time, UTC+1).
