The Reina Sofía School of Music Incubator offers a unique opportunity for young talents in classical music to take their innovative ideas to the next level. This program, inspired by the success of the Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Program, is designed to boost entrepreneurial projects with a clear value proposition, ready to be tested, improved, and launched to the market to maximize their impact. We seek projects that go beyond music: initiatives addressing social and environmental challenges with sustainable and scalable business models.
Each autumn, a call for project proposals will open for those wishing to join the incubator. The only requirement for participation is that at least one alumnus or alumna of the Reina Sofía School of Music is involved in the project. All selected projects will receive:
1. La Academia de Cuerdas Caracas is a project led by Venezuelan alumna Adriana Vírguez (viola). The project offers a musical training model inspired by international experiences, adapted to the Venezuelan context where music education faces numerous limitations. The proposal is based on an already established summer course, with aspirations to scale into a mobile summer course.
2. Shakata Ensemble is a project led by Israeli alumna Mai Choma (violin). This project combines music from different traditions and cultures in an interactive concert format, drawing influences from Klezmer, Balkan, Flamenco, Blues, and Psychedelic Rock, among others. The aspiration is to transform this artistic product into various formats tailored to different clients.
3. Ópera Urbana is a project led by Colombian alumna Vanessa Cera (soprano). The project operates in the realm of interdisciplinarity, bridging opera and other disciplines with the goal of making it more accessible and contemporary. The aspiration is to turn Ópera Urbana into an event agency that can serve brands while fulfilling its mission to democratize opera.
During January 2025, a two-day hackathon will take place, offering participants in the Incubator program the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of leading figures across various sectors to help achieve their goals. Over the course of two days, mentoring sessions will focus on different areas such as communication strategies, personal branding, and commercialization. This year’s lineup includes:
The Incubator Programme is made possible thanks to the collaboration of Fundación Banco Sabadell and If International Foundation.
