Encounter of Santander
Born in Madrid, Andrés Navarro studied at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Madrid, the Reina Sofía School of Music, the Royal College of Music in London and the Haute École de Musique in Geneva with Ana Guijarro, Galina Eguiazarova, Norma Fisher and Nelson Goerner respectively.
He has performed in concert halls in Europe and South America such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Auditorio Nacional de Música, the Palacio de Festivales in Santander, the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Wiener Saal in Salzburg, the Teatro del Libertador in Córdoba (Argentina) and the Konserthus in Stavanger (Norway).
He has also performed as soloist with various orchestras such as the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra in the Grande Salle of the Brussels Conservatory, the Orchestra of the Haute École de Musique de Genève in the Salle Frank Martin or with the Orchestra of the World Youth Day. He has also been invited to festivals such as the Stavanger K&M Festival, Les Rencotres Culturelles de la Vallé de Joux, Les Concerts au Palais de l'Athénée (Switzerland), Festival Fringe de Torroella de Montgrí, the Encuentro de Santander -where he performed with the trumpeter Radovan Vlatkovich as well as giving solo concerts-, the Festival clásicos en verano and the Festival de Arte Sacro de la Comunidad de Madrid, Festival Sierra Musical and the Festival pianos de primavera de Sevilla.
Among his awards are the critics' prize and second prize in the "Primer Palau", the first prize in the "Arnuero International Chamber Music Competition" and the second prize in the "Antón García Abril International Chamber Music Competition".
In 2017 he made a concert tour in Argentina in tribute to Manuel de Falla on the 80th anniversary of his arrival in this country. He is currently Artist in Residence at the Centro de Estudios Pianísticos.
