María Nela García Lorente

Born in Quart de Poblet, Valencia, in 2009. Since 2024, she studies at the Reina Sofía School od Music's Unidad Editorial Double Bass Chair with professor Wies de Boevé. She has been granted a scholarshio by Fundación Albéniz.

She began her musical education at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Riba-Roja de Túria at the age of 6, with the professor Carmen Tomás. Three years later, she began to combine them with different courses at the Escuela Superior de Música de Alto Rendimiento (ESMAR), under the guidance of professor Javier Sapiña, and continued her training at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música José Iturbi in Valencia with Francisco Lluch. She has also taken courses with Professor Matthew Baker.

In 2022, she received two first prizes, as soloist and chamber music, at the Rushmore Music Festival in South Dakota (USA). And in 2023 she participated in the summer programme ¨Concertgebow Young¨, under the baton of Andrés Orozco-Estrada.

She was soloist in the Young Performers concert with the Benaguacil Youth Orchestra, in 2021, and has played with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Valencia, conducted by Beatriz Fernández, as well as regularly performing with the orchestra of the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community with Cristóbal Soler. Since 2023 she has been a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Generalitat Valenciana, conducted by Pablo Rus Broseta.

As a student of the School, she is a member of the Google Da Vinci Duo and the Unidad Editorial Bottesini Double Bass Quartet.
