Julia Tripodo Ponce

Italian-argentinian born in Madrid, Spain, in 24 June 2005. From 2021 to 2023, she studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Aline Foriel- Destezet Cello Chair with professor Ivan Monighetti.

She began his cello studies at the age of four with Arantza López Barinagarrementeria. Later she studied with Michal Dmochowski.

She has received master classes from Frans Helmerson, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Claudio Bohórquez, Troels Svane, Kazimierz Michalik, Nicolas Altstaedt, Kian Soltani, Pablo Ferrández, Maria de Macedo, Fernando Arias y Beatriz Blanco, among others, and chamber music classes with Nicolás Chumachenco, Alain Meunier, Aitor Hevia and Josep Puchades (Quiroga Quartet), Krzysztof Chorzelski (Belcea Quartet) and Ralf Ghotóni.

She has been awarded several prizes, including First Prize and the City Council Special Prize at the XXI International Music Competition of Benidorm (2019), String Competition "Cidade de Vigo" (2019, 2020), Competiton of the “Celloleón” Fundation in León (2018), First Prize at the Chamber Competition of ‘Juventudes Musicales’ of Ávila (2018), and in February 2021 she was awarded in Málaga Cello Masterclasses.

At the age of 11 she made her debut as a soloist with the JORCAM (Youth Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid) in the symphony hall of the Auditorium of San Lorenzo del Escorial performing Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto in C minor for cello and orchestra. Later, when she was 12 years old, he performed, with the same orchestra, the Concerto for two cellos by A. Vivaldi. Since then she has performed as a soloist with the orchestra “La Lira Ospal” at the Mira Theater of Pozuelo and in the auditorium of the “Lázaro Carreter” cultural center and with the Madrid Festival Orchestra, conducted by Albert Skuratov at the “Parroquia Virgen del Camino” and at the Pavón Theater.

She has given numerous recitals in Spain: those performed at the National Auditorium, Sony Auditorium, Jardi dels Tarongers Foundation (Barcelona), Golden Hall of the ‘Gabinete Luterario’ (Canary Islands), Eutherpe Foundation (León), Riera Theater (Asturias), ‘Jose Luis Perales’ Auditorium (Cuenca), Madrid Music Hall, Auditorium of the Colegio de Veterinarios de Madrid, Russian House, “Bellas Artes” Theater , Auditorium of the cultural center ‘La Casa del Reloj’, Auditorium of the cultural center of the “Casa de Vacas” in Retiro Park, Hall of Club Monteverdi, Canal’s Theater, Church of ‘Nuestra Señora del Pilar’ (Pirineos) and the Parish of Santa María in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid. Internationally she has performed concerts in Italy, Germany, and Poland.

From 2014 to 2019 she was part of the Albatros string quartet , being directed by Professor Sergio Castro, and participating in various festivals and musical events, such as "Música en Vena" in Madrid and the VII Concert on Grass in Asturias.

As a student of the School, she has been a member of the Trio Contrapunto BBDO under the direction of Professor Márta Gulyás and of the string quartet Banco de España under the direction of Professor Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet).

She regularly participates in festivals among which stand out Cello Akademie Rutesheim in Germany (2022), Inusual’s music week in Santander (2023), Bahia’s festival in Cádiz (2020), ProCello Foundation Szamotuly-Masterclass in Poland (2019), International Music Course of Benidorm (2019), ‘Interpretación Escénica Musical’ festival in ‘ Real Sitio de San Ildefonso’ (2019), CelloLeón Festival (2018), Clásicos Colgados Festival (2016), Vic Cello Festival (2014) , Pirineos Classic Festival, Pirineos Junior Festival and Curs Violoncel Manlleu.
