Eduardo Alcântara dos Santos

Born in Campo Grande, Portugal, in 2006. Since 2024, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music's Unidad Editorial Double Bass Chair with professor Wies de Boevé. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

He studied at the Conservatório Nacional Escola Artística in Lisbon with Miguel Leira Pereira until the age of 13 and continued his training with Vanessa Lima.

During his career, he has collaborated with musicians such as Juri Hudec, Théotime Voisin, Petru Iuga, and Yo-Yo Ma, and with conductors such as Pablo Heras-Casado, Kent Nagano and Daniel Harding, among others. He has participated in the MACH Project of the Musica Sull'acqua Festival, the Moritzburg Festival 2023, and the Verbier Festival 2022. He premiered contemporary works by Daniel Schvetz, Ângela da Ponte, and Pedro Rocha.

He has received several awards, including 1st prize in competitions such as Nouvelles étoiles 2023, Charleston 2023, Vasco Barbosa 2021 and 2023, and the Jovem 2023 Competition. He also won 2nd prize in the Music in the Vineyards 2022 competition and in the Verão Clássico Double Bass Awards 2023.

As a student of the School, he is a member of the Unidad Editorial Bottesini Double Bass Quartet and of the Cosan Ensemble.
