The concert “Homage to Czech Music”, which is part of the project Year of Czech Music 2024 (Rok české hudby 2024), is organized by the Reina Sofía School of Music in collaboration with the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Czech Center in Madrid.
This event commemorates two important anniversaries: the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bedřich Smetana and the 150th anniversary of Josef Suk, offering an exceptional opportunity to pay tribute to the great Czech composers, such as Smetana, Dvořák, Janáček, Suk and Martinů, and highlighting the rich musical tradition of the Czech Republic and its relevance on the world stage.
The program will include Smetana's Trio in G minor, op. 15, Janáček's Piano Sonata 1.X.1905 and other emblematic pieces of the Czech repertoire, such as Martinů's Czech Rhapsody, H. 307, Suk's Four Pieces for Violin and Piano, op. 17, and Dvořák's Mazurek, op. 49, performed by the young talents of the Reina Sofia School of Music.
