The Sinfonietta of the Reina Sofía School of Music, whose goal is to tackle repertoires centred on the 20th and 21st centuries, offers a didactic concert that seeks to bring contemporary music closer to all types of audiences and help them to understand it.

The Sinfonietta will be conducted by maestro Zsolt Nagy and the programme comprises two works. Written in Blue, composed by Fabián Panisello for the project "Música para una Escuela" of the Reina Sofía School and with trumpeter Manuel Blanco (Orquesta Nacional de España) as soloist, and Aurora, composed by the recently deceased Péter Eötvös, with double bassist Matthew McDonald (Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra) as soloist.

Polo Vallejo, composer and pedagogue, will be the presenter of the concert and will guide us, in conversation with the composer Fabián Panisello, the performers and the conductor, to listen, understand and enjoy the music.

The concert brings us closer to two ways of thinking, feeling and creating classical music today; two composers linked to each other in their relationship of Master and Disciple: Péter Eötvös and Fabián Panisello. Two sound languages that invite us to turn the usual listening channels and parameters, directing them towards new impressions for the ears. Written in Blue and Aurora are two works full of symbolism that immerse us in contrasting sound worlds, inviting us, above all, to imagine. Letting ourselves be carried away by the flow of the instruments, alone or in combination, in a permanent dialogue, will allow us to discover the lines, strokes and diverse textures that make up the creations and that will probably awaken our attention and some 'dormant emotions'.

Free of charge. Tickets can be collected at the Eduardo Úrculo Cultural Centre from Tuesday 30 April.
