Candela Arancón Gonzalo

Born in Madrid, Spain, in 2003. Since 2023, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación BBVA Viola Chair with professor Diemut Poppen. She has been granted scholarships by Consejería de Educación, Universidades y Ciencia de la Comunidad de Madrid and Fundación Albéniz.

She began her viola studies at the age of 7 at the Teresa Berganza Professional Conservatory, under the guidance of María Jesús Cano, and she graduated with high grades and end-of-degree award. Between 2021 and 2023, she continued her training at the Katarina Gurska School of Music with professor Laure Gaudron.

She has attended masterclasses by Gérard Caussé, Thomas Riebl, Mikhail Zemtsov, Alexander Zemtsov, Adolfo Hontañón, Lara Férnandez, Lawrence Power, Shanghai Quartet, and Cuarteto Leonor.

Candela has been part of several ensembles and she is full member of the Youth Orchestra of the Madrid Region, participating in projects with the Orchestra and Choir of the Madrid Region.

She has performed in venues, including the National Auditorium’s Symphony and Chamber Halls, the Royal Theatre, the Miguel Delibes Auditorium in Valladolid, and the Mozart Hall at the Auditorium of Zaragoza, among others.

As a student of the School, she has performed with the Freixenet Orchestra, conducted by Péter Csaba and Sir András Schiff; with the Fundación EDP Camerata, conducted by Paul Goodwin, and with the Sinfonietta, conducted by Zsolt Nagy. She has been part of the Dvořák Quartet.
