Francisco Javier Burgos Piquer

Born in Valencia, Spain, in 2004. Since 2022, he studies at the Reina Sofia School of Music’s Telefónica Violin Chair with professor Christoph Poppen. He has been granted scholarships by Havas and Fundación Albéniz.

He studied violin since the age of five with José Miguel Rodrigo and later, with Victoria Lorente at the Professional Conservatory of Valencia (Extraordinary Prize in his specialty, academic year 2020-2021) and with Gjorgi Dimcevski. He has also attended masterclasses by Mihaela Martin and Miriam Fried as well as Josep Puchades, Heinz Holliger, and Krzysztof Chorzelski (chamber music).

He has been a member of the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Seville, where he studied with Miguel Colom and was concertmaster conducted by Maestro Heras-Casado.

He has been awarded first prizes in competitions such as Fes Art Soloists Competition and the Valencia International Music Festival, where he was also granted the Special Prize.

He has performed at Valencia’s Palau de la Música, the Palau de les Arts, Mozart Hall in Zaragoza’s Auditorium and Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza, in addition to participating at international festivals such as the international music festivals in Burgos and Valencia, Forum Musikae, Kronberg Akademie and Academia de Cagliari.

He has performed as soloist with the Orchestra of the Valencia Conservatory and with the Valencia International Music Festival Orchestra, as a result of the award in 2019. He has also performed with the Ateneo del Puerto Symphony Orchestra.

As a student of the School, he has been a member of the Freixenet Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Juanjo Mena, Péter Csaba and Sir András Schiff; the Fundación EDP Camerata, conducted by Christoph Poppen, and the Sinfonietta, conducted by Zsolt Nagy. He has been part of the Ramales Quartet and the Areti Trio. He is currently a member of the Alma Mahler Trio .

He plays a 2020 Svetozar Bogdanoski violin.
