Oleksandra Totkalova

She performs first as soloist at the age of seven. Born in Kherson, Ukraine, she began her piano training with professor Galina Solgutovskaya at the age of five and she soon stood out in many youth competitions both national and international, including the 12th Neuhaus Memorial Competition, the Richter Memorial International Competition, and the 9th Karamov International Competition.
She studied pedagogy and instrumental and vocal accompaniment at Jerson Conservatory where she received a scholarship by the local and regional governments, and in 2015, she continues her studies with the renowned professor Alexander Gold in Spain. Her success in international competitions does not cease since then: Special Prize "Universidad Popular de Albacete" in the 35th Albacete Young Pianists National Competition (2015), Second Prize in the 2nd Livorno Piano Competition (Italy, 2018), First Prize at the 18th "CIUTAT DE XÀTIVA" Young Interpreters Competition (Xativa, Valencia, 2018), Third Prize in 6th International Competition "Gran Klavier" (Alcala de Henares, Madrid, 2019). In 2020, Sasha graduated with top marks at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid in the chair of Elena Orobio being undoubtedly one of the most outstanding pianists of her class. Subsequently, she studied for a Master's Degree in Performance at the University of Cologne (Germany) under the tutelage of Claudio Martínez Mehner.
She has performed concerts and recitals in venues including the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, within the “Novos Intérpretes” Series in Santiago, and in Festivals like SonCello in Galicia and CelloLeón sharing the stage with Fernando Arias, Johannes Krebs, Ángel G. Jermann, Michal Dmochowski, and Rafael Rosenfeld, among others. She has attended masterclasses by pianists including Milana Chernyavska, Kennedy Moretti, Roberto Prosseda, Nina Tichman, Arkadi Volodos, and Mikhail Voskresensky. She is currently studying a Master’s Degree in Musical Research at Valencia International University.
Since 2024-2025, she is accompanying pianist professor at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Telefónica Violin Chair with professor Zakhar Bron.
