The Reina Sofía School of Music takes part in the Sir Elton John Global Exchange Programme


The Royal Academy of Music (United Kingdom) has launched the Sir Elton John Global Exchange Programme, that goes live in September 2022. The programme, endorsed by Elton John, alumnus of the Royal Academy, will promote global mobility and international collaboration between deserving and talented young musicians. The scheme will enable students from twelve of the top conservatoires in the world to take part in educational exchanges with the Academy. These will vary in length from one week of intensive project-based work to, in exceptional cases, a full year of study.

The Reina Sofía School of Music, in its goal of to support highly talented young musicians in their personal and artistic development, will take part in the project along other prestigious international institutions:

  • The Juilliard School of New York (USA)
  • Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (France)
  • Shanghai Conservatory of Music (China)
  • Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts of Helsinki (Finland)
  • University of Music and Performing Arts of Vienna (Austria)
  • Hanns Eisler Academy of Berlin (Germany)
  • The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (China)
  • Sydney Conservatorium of Music (Australia)
  • University of Music and Performing Arts of Munich (Germany)
  • The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto (Canada)
  • Tokyo University of the Arts Faculty of Music and Graduate School of Music (Japan)

The School’s Dean, Óscar Colomina, said: “Through this programme, Sir Elton John makes a decisive contribution to promote and strengthen the connections among leading international musical institutions. I am particularly proud that this initiative connects two key artistic communities in the global music scene such as the Royal Academy of Music and the Reina Sofía School of Music”.
