Encounter of Santander
Madrid, 28 June 2023 - Paloma O'Shea, President of the Reina Sofía School of Music, and José María de Areilza, Secretary General of Aspen Institute España, have signed a collaboration agreement between the two entities, thanks to which the Aspen community will participate in events at the School, while members of the School will take part in Aspen Institute España seminars thanks to the creation of the Aspen-Escuela Reina Sofía scholarships.
With this agreement, Aspen Institute España seeks to strengthen its impact in the social, cultural and educational spheres and, with it, to reinforce and contribute to the development of a culture of dialogue and the creation of a community of people willing to promote debate and reflection in society. For the Aspen Institute España, music has been an essential element for the promotion of enlightened leadership since its origins, as the musician Arthur Rubinstein was one of the founders of this institution, established in Colorado, USA, in 1949.
For the Reina Sofia School of Music, this agreement is part of its proactive policy of creating alliances with relevant and prestigious organisations and institutions that help it to develop and extend its mission of training young musicians and bringing music closer to society.
