Laura Marín


Laura Marin was born in 1993 in Medellín, Colombia. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Guitar from the University of Antioquia, where she graduated with honors in 2017 under the guidance of Maestros Bernardo Cardona and Julián Cardona. She obtained a Master's degree in Classical and Contemporary Music Performance from the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona in 2018, studying under the tutelage of Maestro Guillem Pérez-Quer. She also received additional training at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) under the supervision of Dr. Laura Young. In 2023, she completed her Master's degree in Spanish and Latin American Music at the Complutense University of Madrid. Currently, she is pursuing her doctoral thesis in musicology at the same university. 
 
Laura Marin has achieved recognition in several international classical guitar competitions, including winning second prize in the II International Guitar Competition Raimundo, honoring Leo Brouwer, with Maestro Brouwer as a jury member. She was awarded the Colombian Ministry of Culture's Scholarship for Colombian Artists in 2018. Additionally, she participated in the seventeenth edition of the International Guitar Course Ciudad de Nájera with Maestro José Luis Rodrigo. She won first place in the Latin American Women Guitarists Competition in 2016 in Sonora, Mexico, and second place in the fourth edition of the Young Soloists Competition in 2014 at the University of Antioquia. 
 
She is the co-director and guitarist of the chamber music group Colectivo La Puerta Mágica, which specializes in giving educational concerts for children. In 2022, Laura released her solo album "Music for Guitar by Ibero-American Composers". Currently, she also collaborates in the cultural action department of Patrimonio Nacional.
