José Pinto


 

José Pinto was born in Vila Real (Portugal) in 1992. He began his musical studies at the Conservatory of that same city with Professor Luís Filipe Santos and completed his higher studies and master's degree in Porto at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo with Professor Nuno Pinto. From 2016 to 2018 he was a student at the Reina Sofía School of Music with Professor Michel Arrignon.  

As a beneficiary of the Fundación Albéniz scholarship and the GDA scholarship, José Pinto was a member of the Harmonie Group and was part of the Ricercata quintet during his time as a student at the School. He has also taken several advanced courses with internationally renowned clarinettists such as Vicent Alberola, Sabine Meyer, Yehuda Gilad and Karl Leister, among others.  

José Pinto has been awarded in national and international competitions, including First Prize in the International Clarinet Association competition in the United States in 2014. As a soloist, he has participated in international festivals in Portugal and Spain, such as Klassic Fest, Paços de Brandão and the International Clarinet Festival. 

He actively collaborates with several orchestral ensembles such as the Fundação Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Orchestra, and the Orquestra XXI, working alongside esteemed conductors like Pinchas Zuckerman, Plácido Domingo, Guy Braunstein, Pablo Heras-Casado, and Kynan Johns. 
José balances his artistic pursuits with teaching commitments, serving as a faculty member at several music schools in Madrid
