Iria Porras


Iria Porras began her oboe studies at age 9, with the soloist of the national orchestra Vicente 
Sanchís. 


In 2010, she graduated as a senior oboe teacher at the Royal Superior Conservatory of Madrid, 
with the highest rating awarded. That same year she began a Master's degree in musical 
interpretation under the tutelage of maestro Hansjorg Schellenberger, at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía. Also, he specializes in chamber music at the International 
Chamber Music Institute of Madrid. 


Two years later, in 2012, he receives the Queen Sofia prize from the hands of Her Majesty to the best student of the oboe chair, awarded by the teachers of the Reina Sofía School of Music unanimously. 
In 2014 he made his solo debut with violinist Daniel Austrich playing the double concerto for violin and oboe by J.S. Bach. In 2015, he performed as a soloist with his mentor Hansjoerg 
Schellenberger, together with the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra and the FIME Symphony 
Orchestra. 


Throughout her musical career Iria Porras develops an extensive experience as an orchestral 
musician, having collaborated or been an active member of the Orquesta de Valencia, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Ensemble Praeteritum, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra (Denmark), Aalborg Symphony Orchestra (Denmark) or the Galician Chamber Orchestra, among others. 
 
Convinced of the importance of music for social development and cultural integration, Iria Porras has collaborated with the Organization "symphony for life" (Colombia) as a teacher, and is founder of the Esmeraldas International Music Festival, a festival that seeks to develop talent of young Latin Americans and bring the highest level of music to Ecuador. 
 
Iria Porras is also a journalist, graduated from the Carlos III University of Madrid.
