STRAUSS, Richard
Concerto for horn and orchestra no. 1 in E flat major TrV 117 op. 11 (horn and piano reduction)
I. Allegro
Radovan Vlatkovic, professor
Anaís Romero Blánquez, student
Jesús Gómez Madrigal, accompanying pianist
In this masterclass, teacher and student start with preliminary exercises related to the first movement "Allegro" of Strauss' Concerto and based on several passages of the work. They talk about the three most positives aspects of the student's performance, with the accompanying pianist Jesús Gómez Madrigal, and then explore the things to be improved.
Tone-Time-enTonation are the three most important "t". Professor Vlatkovic comments that in several moments it is necessary to take more time in some notes. They rehearse two different tempi: one for studying, the other one to perform in concert.
Finally, they also work on the posture while playing and the breathing in certain passages.
