Sonatine for piano
II. Mouvement de Menuet
Mikhail Voskresensky, guest professor
Juan Pérez Floristán, student
First of all, prof. Vonskresensky points out that it is a Menuet, so the student must feel the pulse in 3 (not in 1) and the character is prestigious and noble.
Besides, Voskresensky comments that Ravel has the quality of making sad music with a major tonality. The professor also makes corrections on phrasing and pedal changes: they have to be linked with the harmonic changes and he explains the better way to carry them out.
In a certain part, the sound must be louder and it is important to keep in mind the Menuet character and the fact that it is the slow movement of the work.
