BRITTEN, Benjamin
Sonata for cello and piano in C major op. 65
II. Scherzo. Pizzicato
Frans Helmerson, guest professor
Ferran Bardolet, student
Miguel Ángel Ortega Chavaldas, accompanying pianist
Professor Helmerson comments some aspects related to arm and fingers. The arm position determines the more or less freedom we have in our fingers. That is why he advices the student to raise the left arm for relieving the fingers, and the same thing happens between right arm and right hand.
They also work on pizzicati: in the low ones it is necessary to lower the hand in the fingerboard to do the pizzicati clearer and richer. Some of them are too fast, so it is necessary to control them. Moreover, they study different ways to do the pizzicati (with one or two fingers) in some passages.
