Application


The application period for the academic year 2025-2026 is closed.

At the auditions, the only selection criterion is the talent of the student. The process consists of several rounds:

  • Online application.
  • 1st RoundPreselection: The Selection Committee evaluates the transcript of records and the audiovisual material of each candidate and selects those who pass to the next round.
  • 2nd RoundAuditions. Check the specific requirements of each chair, as they might differ between teachers.

Application form

It is an online application form that requests the following information:

  • Programme of studies you wish to apply to (Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance/Composition, Master’s Degree, Foundation Course, Diploma in Music Performance/Composition and Diploma in Advanced Orchestra Conducting Studies).
  • Audition to which you choose to enroll (it is possible to choose one or more)
  • Information on previous studies.
  • Two academic references: from your Instrument teacher and headmaster, headteacher or dean. It is a courtesy measure to inform your professor and request him this reference in advance. It is not allowed to request references to a professor who is part of the panel.
  • Language certificates, if you hold any.
  • personal statement.
  • Artistic CV (up to 900-character text)
  • Chosen pieces according to the obligatory repertoire (see specific repertoire down below)
  • For the preselection round:
    • Two recent recordings of contrasting pieces (it can be either one movement or the hole piece). At least one must be accompanied by piano.
    • An optional third recording showcasting a different activity: chamber music, as a soloist...
  • Payment of a €100 application fee.

Applicants to the Composition Chair must also provide a dossier including:

  • Previous works, including sheet music (pdf) and, if possible, recordings that provide a short presentation of these works. 
  • CV that details previous studies.

Application fee

There is an €100 application fee for auditions at the Reina Sofía School of Music. You only have to pay one fee, even if you apply for more than one department.

Auditions

If you are pre-selected for auditions, we will contact you via GetAccepted one month before your audition date. These carry a €30 audition fee, to be paid before the audition date.
