Encounter of Santander
Born in Welwyn Garden City, England, in 2001, flautist Sam Frith is currently studying at the Royal College of Music in London for his bachelor’s degree with Gitte Marcusson, and previously with Simon Channing and Adam Walker. He is also studying piccolo with Dimis Demetriades and Kathlen Stevenson. He began his studies at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and during his time there was a finalist in the prestigious Lutine Prize competition and was selected as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Sam has freelanced with orchestras such as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and frequently performs with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra and London City Orchestra. He has recently had success in the British Flute Society Young Artist Competition.
