Mexican pianist Ricardo Ali Alvarez is graduate from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover in Germany, the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland and the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia, Mexico. He has been a recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Hannover scholarship in Germany, the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes from Mexico and the Williamson Foundation for Music from California.
His first CD production "Images et Ballades" distributed by the Swiss label "Altri Suoni", with works by Liszt, Debussy and the Mexican composer Manuel M. Ponce, has been a great success and it has been received with the best reviews in the musical environment. Musical examples have been broadcasted by NDR Kultur, Deutschland Radiokultur and the Radio della Svizzera Italiana. His recent performance of Rachmaninoff’s 3d Piano Concerto with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana has been applauded and appraised with utmost success.
He has been awarded first prizes at the 6th edition of the Angelica Morales Yamaha – Piano Competition in 2009 and the 6th Edvard Grieg National Piano Competition, held in Mexico in the year of 2003. Further prizes include the 2nd prize at the Jacinto Cuevas Piano Competition and both the 5th prize and the Ponce Prize for the best interpretation of the Mexican Composer Manuel M. Ponce at the Manuel M. Ponce International Piano Competition in Toluca, Mexico (2010).
He has appeared in Germany, Norway, Italy, Switzerland, France and in the most important halls in Mexico, such as Palacio de Bellas Artes, Sala Carlos Chavez, MUNAL, Sala Blas Galindo, among others. As a soloist he has performed with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and the most important mexican orchestras such as Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional, Orquesta Filarmónica de Chihuahua, Orquesta Sinfónica de Yucatán. Future engagements include Orquesta Sinfónica de Aguascalientes, Orquesta de Camara de Bellas Artes and Orquesta Sinfónica Carlos Chavez.
He has received coaching from: Nora Doallo, Einar Steen-Nökleberg, Alexander Pashkov, Davide Borin, Olga Chkourak, Lilit Markarian. Masterclasses in Spain, Switzerland, Germany and Mexico from profesors like Homero Francesch, Dimitri Bashkirov, Leon Fleischer, Giovanni Belluci, Bruno Canino, Michel D’Alberto, Galina Eguiazarova, Bernd Goetzke, William Grant Naboré, among others.
