Nelson Abigail Jiménez Roblero

Born in Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción, Guatemala, in 2003. Since 2023, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Unidad Editorial Double Bass Chair with professor Wies de Boevé. He has been granted scholarships by MAEC/AECID and Fundación Albéniz and plays a double bass Urtzi Balantzategi Tyr Balea 2022 loaned as an instrument scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

In 2010, he began his musical training at the German Alcántara National Conservatory of Guatemala with professor Ricardo del Carmen Fortuny and, from 2012 on he decided on double bass, fascinated by it dark and strong sound, and continued his studies in El Sistema of Guatemala, performing as soloist on several occasions.

Professors like Laura Cristina Pellecer González and Félix Eduardo Petit, among others, have contributed to his training, and he has attended masterclasses by Edicson Ruiz, Patricia Weitzel, Jiří Hudec, Thomas Martin, Aaron Olgin, Phoebe Russel, and Philipp Stubenrauch.

He has been invited to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra of Guatemala, the Heredia Orchestra of Costa Rica, the National Philharmonic of Honduras, the Central American Philharmonic Encounter and the Intercultural Youth Orchestra, among others. In 2021 he got selected to perform as a guest soloist in El Sistema Orchestra of Guatemala.

As a student of the School, he has performed with the Freixenet Orchestra, conducted by Péter Csaba and Sir András Schiff, and he has been a member of the Fundación Mutua Madrileña Ensemble. He is currently part of the Unidad Editorial Bottesini Double Bass Quartet and of the Eleutheria Quintet.
