Max Santos Rodríguez

Born in Madrid, Spain, in 2005. Since 2022, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación “la Caixa” French Horn Chair with professor Radovan Vlatković. He has been granted scholarships by Consejería de Educación, Universidades y Ciencia de la Comunidad de Madrid and Fundación Albéniz. Her Majesty Queen Sofía handed him the Diploma to the most outstanding student of his chair in the 2023-2024 academic year.

At the age of eight, he began his elemental studies at the CIEM Federico Moreno Torroba with Fernando Puig, combined with his participation at the Youth Choir of Madrid (ORCAM).

Since 2017, he has attended classes or improvement courses with such relevant teachers as: Iván Ortiz, Pedro Jorge, Salvador Navarro, Richard Watkins, Lukas Christinat, Matías Piñeira, Misha Cliquenois, Nicolas Ramez, among others.

In August 2019, he won the second award at the 7th “Vicente Zarzo” French Horn International Competition.

In 2022, he joined the JORCAM (Youth Orchestra of Madrid), as well as the Concertgebow YOUNG Orchestra in Amsterdam, performing at the Concertgebow Hall and the Elbphilarmonie in Hamburg under the baton of Gustavo Gimeno.

In 2023, he was admitted to the Neue Philharmonie München as part of the “Bolero” programme, as resident musician at the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, in Germany, and as a reserve member at the Mahler Academy.

Currently, he has been selected as reserve member at the EUYO (European Union Youth Orchestra) and the Gustav Mahler Jungendorchester.

He combines his studies with multiple collaborations in orchestras including, Madrid Symphony Orchestra, resident at the Royal Theatre, and with regular lessons with professor Jorge Monte de Fez.

As a student of the School, he has been a member of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Juanjo Mena and Péter Csaba; the Fundación EDP Camerata, conducted by Paul Goodwin. He has also been part of the Viena Octet and of the Fundación Mutua Madrileña Ensemble. He is currently a member of the O Globo Quintet and the Cosan Ensemble.
