Gerard Flotats

Born in Solsona, Spain, in 2001. He began his studies in his hometown and moved to the United Kingdom to study with Richard May at Wells Cathedral School with a scholarship in 2016. He currently studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Hannah Roberts with a ABRSM scholarship. He is winner of the Royal Over-Seas League Strings Competition 2023 and the Duo Prize and Craxton Prize at the RAM. He has collaborated with well-known artists such as Miklos Perenyi, Guy Johnston, Brett Dean, and Radovan Vlatković. He has also taken part in festivals around Europe such as the Santander Encounter of Music and Academy, Mendelssohn on Mull, and Schiermonnikoog, and has been principal cello of the EUYO and JONDE. He currently plays on a ‘Francesco Rugeri’ from 1689.
