Encounter of Santander
Born in the Oxford, United Kingdom, in 2001, George Wilkes is a British cellist currently studying at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussels in the class of Jeroen Reuling. He studied in London for four years prior to this with Josephine Knight at the Royal Academy of Music. As a chamber musician and soloist, he has performed throughout the UK and Europe, receiving invitations to the Nume Festival in Italy, the Schiermonnikoog Festival in the Netherlands, the Hellensmusic Festival in the UK, and the Cello Festival in Helsinki, festivals where he played with prestigious musicians such as Misha Amory, Bruno Delepelaire, and Maya Iwabuchi. George has also had masterclasses with Gary Hoffman, Steven Isserlis, and Alban Gerhardt, among others.
