Candela Pérez González

Born in Sevilla, Spain, in 2007. Since 2024, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music's Bassoon Chair with professor Gustavo Núñez. She has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

She began her musical education at the age of 8, and went on to study for a professional degree at the Francisco Guerrero Professional Conservatory of Music in Seville, with Professor Albert Sunyer. She has received master classes with Mor Biron, Xaro Martínez, Paco Cerpas, Ramiro García, Juan Manuel Rico, and Vincenzo Menghini.

She has been part of the Barenboim-Said Academy of Orchestral Studies in the 2023-2024 academic year, studying bassoon with Mor Biron and Francisco Cerpa, bassoon I with the Seville Youth Symphony Orchestra since 2019, and with the Orquesta Bética de Cámara, both conducted by Michael Thomas. She has participated as contrabassoon with the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville Youth Orchestra under the baton of Óliver Díaz. In 2023, she was a member of the European Youth Orchestra Academy and a reserve member of the Young Concertgebouw. She has recently participated in the second selection phase (bassoon) of the European Youth Orchestra (EUYO), in the Youth Orchestra of the Comarques Geronesas with Isabel Rubio as conductor, and in the Alto Minho Young Orchestra conducted by Nuno Coelho.

She has won other prizes including first prize in the ‘Lorenzo Palomo’ Chamber Music Competition XVII, with her quintet in Seville (2024), and first prize as soloist in her age category in the ‘Doble Caña’ Competition in Seville (2022).

As a student of the School, she is part of the Fundación Cajasol Quintet and of the Cosan Ensemble.
