Andrés Felipe Poveda Herrera

Born in Bogotá D. C., Colombia, in 1994. Since 2024, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music's Composition Chair with professor Fabián Panisello. He has been granted scholarships by Fundación Santo Domingo, MAEC/AECID and Fundación Albéniz.

Colombian cellist and composer, he graduated from the Music Programme at the Universidad de los Andes, and as composer he has studied woth Catalina Peralta and Rodolfo Acosta. Additionally, he has attended masterclasses by Carolina Noguera, Miguel Llanque, Johann Hasler, Marius Díaz, Fabián Panisello, Julia Wolf, David Lang, and Michael Gordon.

He has won several national and international awards, including second prize at the first composition competition organised by Cayambis Music Press (USA), second prize at the second national composition competition FestiQ-Artetos (Colombia), first prize at the national composition competition for symphonic band organised by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá and the Plataforma +28 award organised by the Symphony Orchestra of Colombia.

His music has been performed in Colombia, Chile, Portugal, and the United States. He is a co-founding member of the composers' collective EARS Composers and the Ensamble Vasto (Jóvenes intérpretes 2024, Banco de la República de Colombia). His music is currently released by Cayambis Music Press and Babel Scores.
