EDP GREEN STAGE is an initiative of the EDP Foundation and the Reina Sofía School of Music that seeks to support performing arts projects that address, in a creative and original way, themes related to raising awareness of the environmental problems facing our society.
The two winning projects of the first edition will be presented to the public at the I EDP GREEN STAGE Conference on Art and Sustainability:
-El Mar, la Mar: A musical and poetic proposal by singer and composer Clara Montes, which aims to raise awareness among the general public of the need to care for and protect the planet's seas and oceans. The show creates a synergy between Clara Montes' latest work, a tribute to the poem “Marinero en Tierra” by Rafael Alberti, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025, and the transmission of values of sustainability and protection of nature. In addition to Clara Montes, Chamo Díaz on piano, Kiriko Gutiérrez on double bass and Malick MB on percussions.
-Canto al Amazonas. A project by Colombian artist Nilo Verano that celebrates the richness of the Amazon by combining sound and visual art and raising awareness of the dangers facing this vital ecosystem. Nilo's voice fuses with Latin folklore and jazz, transmitting respect and admiration for the wisdom of the people of the Amazon region, the guardians of Mother Earth. Musicians from Berklee Valencia also participate in the show: guitar, cello, flute, drums and percussion.
The performances will be preceded by the round table “Challenges and opportunities for artists in a sustainable world”, where renowned experts in the art and sustainability sectors will discuss how artists can be agents of change in building a more sustainable future. The speakers, moderated by Pablo Maroño, will be:
