La Generación Ascendente
The concert series La Generación Ascendente is one of the best examples of the School's objectives, as it combines in a highly demanding stage the maturation of talented young musicians with the dissemination of classical music in society.
In the concerts of the series, organized in collaboration with INAEM, the best performers of the School have the opportunity to take the prestigious stage of the Auditorio Nacional de Música de Madrid to offer the public new versions of the great works of the repertoire, in recitals, chamber groups or orchestral ensembles.
The Leonkoro Quartet will be the protagonist of the second concert of the series with a program featuring works by Haydn, Berg and Ravel.
Founded in Berlin in 2019, the group has been studying since 2020 with Professor Günter Pichler at the Madrid International Institute of Chamber Music of the Reina Sofía School of Music thanks to a grant from Santander Consumer Bank AG.
Considered one of the best young chamber ensembles in Europe, it has won important awards: Concertgebouw Young Talents Award (2024), Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award (2024), Jürgen Ponto Foundation Music Award (2002), Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition (2022, First Prize and 9 special awards), Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition (2022, First Prize, Audience Prize and Young Audience Prize), MERITO Prize for string quartets (2022) and Paolo Borciani Prize International String Quartet Competition (2021, Second Prize and Audience Prize).
