The Community of Cantabria is located in the north of Spain, in the central area of the Cantabrian mountains. The lushly rich landscape of its lands is evident at its more than 60km of beaches, in the summits of the Picos de Europa, with altitudes above 2,600 meters, and in the numerous rivers that run from south to north, creating green valleys and natural spaces of great ecological value that make the region unique.

History and art embrace in Cantabria, thanks to medieval villages such as Santillana del Mar and cultural treasures like the caves of Altamira, a universal artistic expression of prehistoric man, which also has a replica that is open to the public in the Museum of the same town.

Santander, the capital of Cantabria, is a modern and cosmopolitan city that sits on a bay, facing south, of spectacular beauty. Many visitors travel here to enjoy its charming landscapes, explore its many green spaces or, during the summer, to relax at one of its eleven city beaches, without a doubt an offer as exceptional as it is irresistible within Spain’s tourist sector. Leisure time, entertainment and culture coexist in perfect harmony in Santander.

Airport. The Santander Airport is located about ten minutes from the city (approximately 5km). Airlines such as Air Europa, Air Nostrum, Iberia, Ryanair and Vueling connect Santander with the following national and international destinations: Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Malaga, Milan, Paris, Rome and Tenerife.

Train. Renfe connects Cantabria with Madrid, among other Spanish cities. Feve is the narrow-track railway network that connects Cantabria with Asturias and the Basque Country.

Ferry. From March to November, Brittany Ferries operates between Spain and Great Britain offering services from the ports of Santander and Bilbao to Portsmouth and Plymouth.
