Mar Bonet Silvestre

Born in Valencia (Spain) in 1998. Since 2016, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Aline Foriel-Destezet Cello Chair with professor Jens Peter Maintz. She has been granted a tuition scholarship by Consejería de Educación de la Comunidad de Madrid.

She started her cello studies at the age of four with her mother and María Isabel Quirós at the Cuatro Cuerdas Academy in Madrid. Five years later, she was invited to play Saint-Saëns Allegro Passionato at the Conservatory of Aragón. She later entered the Adolfo Salazar Conservatory, where she studied with Adolfo Gutiérrez, Miriam Olmedilla and Raúl Pinillos, and graduated with a special prize as well as the prize of the Comunidad de Madrid and National Prize of the Ministry of Culture. She furthered her training under the guidance of Pilar Navarro and Fernando Arias. She has also attended improvement and summer courses with Helena Poggio, Rafael Jezierski, Laurentiu Sbarcea, María Casado, Stefan Popov, María de Macedo, Asier Polo, Raphael Wallfisch, Lluís Claret, Pablo Ferrández, Gary Hoffman and Frans Helmerson, and has received masterclasses from Torleif Thedéen, Gautier Capuçon, and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt. In 2015 she performed as soloist Boccherini’s Concerto in G minor at the Cibeles Palace, and in 2016 Beethoven’s Triple Concerto at the National Auditorium. She has been awarded second prizes at the Jóvenes Promesas Competition in Alcañiz (2013) and the International Llanes Competition (2015) as well as in 2019 third prize at the 7th Justus-Johann-Friedrich-Dotzauer International Competition for young cellists of Dresde (Germany).

As a student of the School, she has been part of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Antoni Ros-Marbà, Plácido Domingo, Pablo González, Jaime Martín, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Andrés Orozco-Estrada and András Schiff, and that of the Camerata under the baton of Anne-Sophie Mutter. She has been a member of the KPMG Schubert Ensemble and the BBDO Tiempo Quartet, and is currently a member of the Sibelius Ensemble.
